Day 3: We hike into what looks like prehistoric Costa Rica or a scene out of Jurassic Park. The Catarata Tesoro Escondido waterfall is a well-kept secret in Costa Rica. Not many foreigners know of its existence. Only recently was this area discovered as a favorite spot for locals. The Tesoro Escondido Waterfall is one of the most stunning waterfalls you can imagine! It has a unique brilliant blue color, similar to Rio Celeste River. The water is simply magical! Take a trip here to explore the nature, beautiful mountains and amazing scenery. This area is perfect for those who want to get off the beaten path. After lunch, we navigate our way to Pozo Celeste.
The Rio Agrio flows into a series of surreal pools where the color of the water is an opaque turquoise that glows. We end our day in the Termales Del Bosque hot springs. Soaking in this volcanic hot spring offers a host of natural health benefits. The healing powers of these hot springs have been used for thousands of years by the indigenous Central Americans as natural treatment options for various common ailments. The therapeutic use of water, or balneotherapy, could be just what the doctor ordered when it comes to relieving pain, stress, skin woes and more.
Day 4: The journey home begins but we will always carry the awe of nature and the moments besides the Volcano with us.
Tentative Daily Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica. Our all-terrain vehicle takes us to the city of Bajos del toro. The short journey take us into the clouds, driving on winding mountainous roads as we approach Poás Volcano National Park. The ride itself is an adventure with stunning views of volcanoes and waterfalls around every turn. We Arrive at the lodge, located on a biological reserve, eager to wander thru one of the five nature trails. The biological reserve is located in the Continental Divide of the Central Volcanic Mountain Range, between the popular Poas Volcano National Park and the less explored but marvelous Juan Castro Blanco National Park; which is better known as the National Park of Water. Our first night we become physically and mentally centered after a mindfulness yoga session. We are ready to begin the odyssey.
Day 2: The team wakes up and we fuel our bodies with a Tico breakfast. We're headed into an intense hiking expedition that starts with an enormous waterfall, one of many in the Pozo Azul area. The rushing water spills nearly two hundred feet into the river. Our experienced guide knows we are up to the challenge as we hike down to the bottom of this beautiful waterfall. It's difficult to explain the color of the water. It has a cyan like appearance and is crystal clear. Along the way, you will be able to spot many of the beautiful butterflies, tropical birds and lush plants of the area. The rock formations that were formed by the volcano capture the imagination of those that wander in this area. In addition to the great trails, there are many other beautiful waterfalls and pools along the way. This is perfect for those who like an extra adrenaline rush! After lunch we hike into the Paradise Springs area. We navigate the meneito yellow stained boulders as we admire numerous waterfalls and listen to the sounds of the river and jungle.
